Day of the Dead | Día de los Muertos | Cancun, Mexico Wedding Photographer + Videographer

Day of the Dead-Nov 2018-159.jpg

Back in October & November, Devin & I traveled to Mexico 3 times, Colorado once and the Dominican Republic once. It was a crazy 6 weeks, but absolutely incredible. We even spent Thanksgiving in Cancun capturing an incredible wedding at El Dorado Royale / Generations Riviera Maya. Before that, Colorado, and the Dominican Republic, we captured a vow renewal and destination wedding at the same resorts.

During that trip, it was Halloween and then Day of the Dead. We spent the day going to Playa del Carmen, walking the streets with our friend Ashley & then we went on a site inspection of Sandos Caracol Eco Resort. It’s such an incredible resort with so much to offer! They had a Dia de los Muertos parade and all sorts of fun festivities.

Iberostar Playa Mita | Puerto Vallarta, Mexico All-Inclusive

Puerto Vallarta is breathtaking! As we flew in, we were surrounded by beautiful mountain views. Upon landing, the area felt so quaint and welcoming. We didn't stay in Puerto Vallarta, but rather at the Iberostar Playa Mita in Nayarit.

We seriously loved taking long walks on the huge open and mostly secluded beach. We even got to see a sea turtle on the beach during our stay! What a cool moment in time. The property itself was very open and spread out. Our room overlooked the golf course and we were able to view the sunset every night. There were a few things that sort of bummed us out about the property unfortunately. There was no breakfast on the room service menu, which I'm sure sounds pretentious, but that's just about the only meal we love room service for! One other thing that kept happening is a very loud and strange alarm sound in the hallway and the power in our room would go out multiple times a day.

Overall, the experience was still wonderful. We captured an unbelievable destination wedding there, which was literally incredible. We loved the wedding ceremony and reception areas, the pool and beach areas, the secluded and busy areas, the restaurants and the staff throughout. Also, when walking down the beach to the left, there area amazing little cave structures covered in crabs - It was so neat! We would absolutely go back if given the opportunity!

Enjoy, xoxo
